Oh, how to describe this? It’s based on my life, it deals with pesky feelings about where we come from, where we find home, and family.
Simon moved to Montreal ten years ago to be with a man he loved. When that relationship ended, he had been in a strange land for seven years, and it didn’t look so bizarre to him anymore, so he stayed.
He has not been back to Louisiana during those ten years, much to the frustration of his mother. When she takes ill, he is forced to return before he is ready. He has no idea how long before his mother feels well enough and he can return to what he thinks of as home. He has left behind friends, his job, and a budding romance to be with his mother, yet he does everything but actually spend time with her in a desperate attempt to forget that he’s back in the South.
